The altitude on the plateau where the wind farm is located varies between 980 and 1060 m above sea level; it is partly used for crops (seasonal crops, mostly herbaceous) and grazing land. The majority of the area is wild. There are no trees, except beyond the eastern borders of the area.

The Vaglio di Basilicata wind farm has been active since October 2003. It consists of 20 triblade wind turbines (unitary capacity: 0.6 MW) adding up to a total installed capacity of 12.3 MW.

This wind farm is connected to the electrical substation in Avigliano (PZ) which performs voltage step-up and energy delivery.

The energy produced by each wind turbine is collected at Medium Voltage (20 kV), by means of an underground cable network. An underground duct connects the MV/LV cabins and then goes on to the Electrical Station where the energy is transformed and enters the public grid at 150 kV voltage.
