The area is mountainous, with sparse low and medium-sized trees and very rounded mountaintops.

The Ripabottoni wind farm has been operating since December 2005;  it consists of 24 triblade wind turbines (unitary capacity: 0.66 MW), adding up to a total installed capacity of 15.84 MW.

The wind farm is connected to the electrical substation in Morrone del Sannio (CB), which performs voltage step-up and energy delivery.

The energy produced by each wind turbine is collected at Medium Voltage (20 kV), by means of an underground cable network. An underground duct connects the MV/LV cabins, and then goes on to the Electrical Station in Morrone del Sannio, where the energy is transformed and enters the public grid at 150 kV voltage.
