Value for territories and communities

fountain villa Panza

Creating value for the territory in which we operate means developing shared solutions with relevant stakeholders, promoting socioeconomic innovation, stimulating local entrepreneurship, fostering employment, activating virtuous co-design paths with both public and private territorial stakeholders, and supporting local culture and excellence.

Our presence and that of our network across the Italian territory is wide and varied. Thanks to a complex and widespread framework, we have built a strong territorial bond over time, characterized by solid and continually strengthened relationships with the communities. Another important interlocutor in the territories is represented by the network of the Confindustria association world. We are members of 31 territorial associations of Confindustria across 19 regions, with which we maintain a constant dialogue to define collaboration paths and participate in working groups on topics such as energy transition and innovation.

Generating value for the territory also means collaborating with it and supporting local culture and excellence. Examples of this corporate philosophy include our long-standing partnerships with the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the FAI – Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano. Additionally, we have always built strong relationships and established constructive dialogues with local institutions and communities, with a collaborative approach that is particularly important when implementing new plants or making interventions on existing ones. Finally, we are particularly attentive to the communities where we operate, with numerous specific projects currently underway or already completed, involving local schools in these territories.

Progetto Scuola

With Edison Next, we have developed and launched a model to evolve schools by transforming school buildings from closed and underused spaces into innovative, safe, and multifunctional centers, also open to families and the community, capable of meeting the new needs of the modern family model. To achieve this goal, we plan to extend the opening hours of school buildings, maximizing their use, and implement infrastructure interventions, such as the renovation and creation of educational, sports, and multifunctional spaces, along with energy efficiency measures, such as the installation of photovoltaic systems to be integrated with the development of Renewable Energy Communities.

Educational training on energy topics

Our activities to raise awareness and educate young people of school age on energy topics, with a focus on careers in the energy sector, have been particularly significant. We emphasize STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) skills, which are closely linked to the employability and job opportunities of new generations in future professions. In total, considering the initiatives across territories and those described below, we estimate that more than 3,000 students in Italy were involved in 2025.

  • Edison School: currently addressed to upper secondary school students, this educational and career‑orientation programme focused on energy‑related professions consists of both in‑person activities and digital‑platform sessions, with certified hours under the PCTO – Pathways for Transversal Skills and Career Guidance. As of 2025, more than 240 schools are affiliated across 20 Italian regions. In addition, educational visits to Edison facilities throughout Italy were organised, involving more than 20 classes and over 400 students in total.

  • School of Energy Professions: designed and implemented in collaboration with Aforisma School of Management, the initiative is dedicated to skills development through school‑to‑work pathways and to the creation of subsequent employment opportunities for young people aged 14 to 29 in Apulia. In 2025, the training offer was expanded with a new edition of the IFTS programme for Senior Energy Systems Installation and Maintenance Technicians, as well as with the launch of the fourth year leading to a diploma in installation and maintenance.

  • DaVinci 4.0 GdB Project: promoted by Gruppo Editoriale Bresciana, which involved 100 students from 9 upper secondary schools in the Province of Brescia with the aim of fostering digital culture and developing skills useful for entering the labour market; and the Montagna 4.0 FUTURe ALPS Project, which engages students, professionals, entrepreneurs and institutions across the Italian Alpine arc — Piedmont, Valle d’Aosta, Lombardy, Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia — in a pathway designed to transfer transversal skills to students.

  • Participation in female empowerment initiatives: including: “Deploy Your Talent” with Fondazione Sodalitas; “Girls in STEM” with the France–Italy Chamber of Commerce; “Sistema Scuola/Impresa” with ELIS and Valore D; “HackHer_” with the Bridge The Gap Association, aimed at promoting technical and scientific disciplines; and the YEP orientation programme with Fondazione Ortygia.

  • Partnership network with ITS Academy Foundations: throughout 2025, collaboration activities with the ITS Academy ecosystem continued, in particular with ITS Green Energy (Vimercate) and ITS Angelo Rizzoli (Milan). Specifically, Edison hosted an orientation day on study pathways promoted by ITS Green, designed and delivered a course in Project Management, contributed to selected teaching modules in cybersecurity, and took part in the respective Career Days, with the additional participation of ITS ICT Piemonte.

  • Energy Transition Awareness Initiatives Participation: in partnership with the School4Life Project and ELIS for guidance and training on the energy professions of the future; participation in the Bella Family Project dedicated to students; as well as endorsement of the memorandum of understanding with Legambiente – Green Energy Revolution to promote training pathways and orientation in the renewable energy sector.

Tackling energy poverty

We are actively engaged in combating energy poverty for families and consumers in general and in 2025 the Group achieved its target of 15 initiatives implemented in Italy. In 2025, we continued the Energia in Periferia project – an initiative promoted by the Fondazione Banco dell’Energia to support vulnerable families living in the peripheral areas of cities. The project provides direct assistance through the payment of energy bills and offers education and awareness about energy use through Domestic Energy Tutors, volunteers trained on responsible consumption topics. Specifically, we carried out initiatives in Reggio Calabria, Catanzaro, and Cagliari, in collaboration with the Fondazione Domus de Luna ETS, Quartiere di S. Teresa, providing support to approximately 1,000 families during the year.

Another key approach to combating energy poverty is the creation of Renewable Energy Communities for Solidarity (CERS), which are designed to benefit third-sector entities with the aim of building a social-energy model that simultaneously guarantees and improves both environmental sustainability and social sustainability. In 2025, once again in collaboration with Banco dell’Energia, the project “Sustainable Energy for Young People”, involving Banco dell’Energia, Edison and Opera Salesiana Borgo Ragazzi Don Bosco in Rome, included the installation of two photovoltaic systems with a total capacity of 200 kWp for the day centre and the Vocational Training Centre, contributing to a significant reduction in energy costs.

In the same year, the first renewable energy community with social impact promoted by Fondazione EOS was launched as part of the Traiettorie Urbane project in Palermo. Once fully operational, the initiative will include the installation of photovoltaic systems producing 320 MWh per year, reducing energy costs for the participating local associations and generating incentives, estimated at €40,000 per year at full capacity, to be reinvested in socio‑cultural activities for local neighbourhoods over a 20‑year horizon.

In addition, a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 85 kW was designed in Turin; starting from 2026, the related incentives will support the “Life Pathways for Adolescents” project in partnership with Fondazione OZ. Among the initiatives aimed at tackling energy poverty is also the “Oasi” project, the first cooling centre in Italy promoted by the Italian Red Cross – South Milan Area Committee, in collaboration with Banco dell’Energia and Edison, in the Opera district of Milan. The project initially involved the installation of a cooling system to transform the facility into a relief centre for elderly and vulnerable people during heatwaves. Subsequently, Edison installed a 23 kW photovoltaic system, covering 50% of the centre’s energy consumption. Overall, more than 500 people benefited from the cooled space and the shuttle service for healthcare assistance.

Self consumption collective

Since 2021, Edison Energia has launched an innovative model for energy sharing in residential condominiums, with the aim of promoting self‑production and the use of energy from renewable sources. Specifically, residents of condominium buildings can join Collective Self‑Consumption groups (AUCs), involving the installation of a photovoltaic system on the building rooftop and the shared distribution of environmental, social and economic benefits. To date, 88 collective condominium self‑consumption and Renewable Energy Community (REC) configurations have been contracted, involving approximately 2,000 members. In 2025, Edison Energia signed a collaboration protocol with Legacoop Abitanti, an association bringing together more than 10,000 cooperative enterprises operating nationwide across all sectors. Thanks to this agreement, several initiatives have been launched, including a pilot project involving six condominium buildings in the Province of Reggio Emilia, with the installation of 341 kWp of photovoltaic panels, and the inauguration of a new condominium energy community in Sordina (Salerno) involving 20 participating households. To provide facilitated financing support to end customers interested in promoting solutions such as those described above, Edison Energia carried out a targeted scouting activity of more than 30 national, regional and local funding schemes related to the energy transition (PNRR), integrating them into its operating model.
