Power generation and flexibility

Energy for progress

We have been generating electricity since 1883 and were the first to do so in continental Europe. Today, we continue to invest in the future by choosing cutting-edge and sustainable technologies.

Renewables: our sustainable energy for the country’s development

With an installed capacity of 2.2 GW from renewable sources, including hydroelectric, wind, and solar power, we generated 5,500 GWh of electricity in 2024, avoiding the emission of about 2.4 million tons of CO₂ into the atmosphere. Our goal is to reach 5 GW of renewable capacity by 2030.

Hydroelectric

We have a historic presence in this sector: it represents our roots, but at the same time, it is our future.

Wind power

Wind power

We were pioneers in Italy, building the first single-turbine wind farms. Today, thanks to our expertise, we are the second-largest operator in Italy.

Photovoltaics

We have laid the foundation for significant development in the sector by increasing our installed capacity both in northern and southern Italy.

Thermoelectric: Safety and Efficiency

Through our thermoelectric power generation, we ensure the national electricity system has the security and flexibility needed to compensate for the intermittency of renewable energy generation, doing so by leveraging increasingly efficient and sustainable technologies.
