Professional experience

• since 1978 registered as a lawyer, practicing in Milan.
• since 1992 associate and then full professor at the Faculty of Law of Pavia, currently non-tenured fullprofessor of Commercial Law at the Department of Law of the University of Pavia;
• He is the author of several monographs and numerous scientific publications on commercial law, financialintermediation law and banking law (including a Manual on listed companies now in its third Zanichelliedition). He contributes as a referee to the most important Italian journals of commercial law and has editedand directed a number of collective works on corporate law and financial intermediation, including (togetherwith his colleague G. Presti) the Trattato sul Testo Unico Finanziario (Zanichelli). He is one of the foundersand editors of Analisi Giuridica dell'Economia - AGE, published by Il Mulino, as well as one of the foundersof the Associazione Disiano Preite, which promotes the study of corporate law. He has participated innumerous conferences and public initiatives in which he has given lectures and speeches at various Italianuniversities (in particular Bocconi in Milan, Cattolica in Milan, Luiss in Rome).
• He is founder and director of the Guido Rossi Study Center - Law of Large Enterprises operating at theGhislieri College of Pavia;
• Author of numerous Commentaries on corporate governance in Il Sole 24 Ore.
  Intense and varied judicial and extrajudicial consulting and assistance activities for important companies,listed and unlisted, and banking and non-banking foundational entities.
• after having been between 1991 and 1994 a member of the Board of Statutory Auditors of Banca del Monte di Lombardia and having followed its transformation into a joint-stock company, he has held since1995 various positions in the corporate bodies of banks, investment firms, financial companies, includinglisted ones. He has been, among others, a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee ofBanca Lombarda S.p.A., the Management Board of UBI - Unione Banche Italiane, Chairman of BancaRegionale Europea S.p.A. and Banca Popolare Commercio & Industria S.p.A., Chairman of IW BankS.p.A., Chairman of the Board of Statutory Auditors of Italmobiliare S.p.A., Senior Deputy Chairman of theSupervisory Board of UBI Banca.

 
Principal positions currently held

• He has been, and still is, Chairman of a number of significant foundations operating in Milan: in particular,it is worth mentioning his presidency until 2019 of the Fondazione Artistica Museo Poldi Pezzoli (PoldiPezzoli Museum Artistic Foundation) and, currently, of the Fondazione Ravasi Garzanti, an importantpresence in Milan in the field of social solidarity for the elderly;
• in 2022 he was appointed President of Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lombardia, a position he currentlyholds, and since April 2024 he has been a member of the Board of Directors of ACRI;
• was awarded the Donato Menichella Prize, the Re Manfredi Prize and the Golden Seal of the PaviaChamber of Commerce.
