Renewable energy sources and flexibility
We are committed to promoting renewable energy, with the goal of increasing our installed capacity in this area from the current 2 GW to 6 GW by the end of the current decade, increasing generation of electricity from renewable sources to 40 percent of our energy production. This is why we invest in research and development and believe in the contribution that offshore wind power can make to decarbonising the country.
We are also working on the development of flexibility systems to support the non-programmability of renewable energy sources: by 2030 we want to achieve 500 MW of energy storage, including both pumped storage and batteries.
Edison Next
Through Edison Next we accompany customers and territories on the path to decarbonisation and the ecological transition.
We support public administrations with a comprehensive service platform: for instance, we create smart, connected and inclusive public spaces and ensure public lighting in several Italian municipalities through modern and efficient solutions.
We work with industrial clients from hard-to-abate sectors on the identification and development of initiatives for the decarbonisation of their processes, through design and implementation of green hydrogen production plants using electrolysis directly at their production sites.

Edison Energia is our company concerned with the sale of electricity and gas to households and businesses and value-added services for the retail market. We have always made proximity to customers and territories one of our strengths, with an extensive network of sales outlets and an extremely varied and tailor-made range of services: from commodities to services for the home and the individual, solutions for electric mobility and self-consumption of energy.
We want to develop more than 2,000 energy communities in apartment buildings and more than 100 renewable energy communities by 2030, becoming a key player in sustainable mobility.
