Strategic development of energy infrastructures

Our role in European energy security

We operate in the Mediterranean and the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) to develop infrastructures that support energy source diversification and the targets of the energy transition in Italy and Europe. We cooperate with European institutions and collaborate with industry operators to strengthen energy security.

Green energy carrier terminals in development

Our energy infrastructure in the Mediterranean

We develop interconnections and import terminals that enable the transmission of green energy carriers, in line with the objectives of the energy transition. We create routes based on long-term partnerships with reliable partners to establish new energy corridors and diversify supply sources, ensuring the energy needs of future generations.

Our interconnection projects

IGB

Our flagship achievement is the Greece-Bulgaria pipeline (IGB). Operational since 2022, it provides Bulgaria with critical energy supply diversification, ending dependence on a single source.

EastMed

To connect Eastern Mediterranean sources to European Union markets, we are promoting the development of the EastMed pipeline, already in an advanced stage and designed for hydrogen transport.

Poseidon

We are developing the Poseidon pipeline, a bidirectional interconnector that links available sources at the Greek-Turkish border with Italy. The pipeline is ready for hydrogen transport and enables connections with low-carbon energy resources-rich countries.

H2Poseidon

Alongside traditional gas infrastructures, we invest in new solutions for green energy carriers, such as hydrogen with H2Poseidon. We have successfully demonstrated the possibility to transport hydrogen offshore through pipelines, thanks to desktop studies and experimental tests on materials: this represents a concrete step towards the energy of the future.

Green carrier terminals

We are committed to the development of import terminals and new infrastructures for the transport of green energy carriers, located in Italy and Greece. These projects strengthen the resilience of European energy systems and open access to future global markets.
