Vincent Spinelli, Head of Thermolectric plants (Area 3)

Tell us something about you

I've been with Edison for about eighteen years and I am currently in charge of Gestione Termoelettrica 3, under the Power Asset Business Unit. Gestione Termoelettrica 3 consists of four combined-cycle gas facilities in Altomonte, Candela, and Simeri Crichi in Southern Italy, and in Piombino, Tuscany. Edison was the first to introduce the combined-cycle technology in Italy, with high-yield, low-carbon impact. The facilities in Altomonte, Candela and Simeri Crichi work for the electricity market and they are quite new, started between 2005 and 2007. The Piombino facility is part of a steel-processing complex and it is fuelled with gases from steel processing along with fossil fuels. Gestione Termoelettrica 3 has an overall installed power capacity of 2200 MW.

Your activities in detail

I am responsible for coordinating and overseeing all production and maintenance operation plans. I act in accordance with the facility managers, to meet any technical need and align the facility to the inputs provided by staff functions where needed.  Moreover, I am in charge of supervising and managing the regulatory aspects, particularly the health and safety regulation and environmental regulation.

The team

Our team is led by the heads of facility and maintenance specialists. The heads of facility have a maintenance specialists and maintenance staff team each, who are reporting directly to them and are responsible for the functioning of their respective facility. These teams work in three eight-hour shifts a day, seven days a week, so the facilities are manned at all times.

Your professional profile

Our staff generally has a technical background. New staff are recruited and trained according to the specific needs of each individual facility. Training starts upon beginning of operations in the facility, and of course it includes both a technical and theoretical section and a practical, on-the-job phase.
