Community projects
Evaluation of Community Projects
Edison views partnering with non-profit associations as an
integral part of its corporate social responsibility strategy
because these associations provide an effective tool to interact
with society. In 2009, the Company established a Committee
chargedwith evaluating socially beneficial projects and address the
need to develop specific guidelines, take a proactive approach in
the identification of socially beneficial projects and make the
entire process transparent. As part of this effort, in selecting
projects for the areas where it operates, Edison decided to select
projects that target young people and small children, focusing on
such issues as the promotion of sustainable development and energy
efficiency, sports and culture.
Significant project already being implemented include: "It's my
right, it's my live" a project on human rights launched in
Egypt; activities to promote energy conservation education
(“Eco
Generation – La scuola amica del clima” and
“Edison
change the music”); and a program to bring rugby to the
inmates of the Beccaria juvenile detention center in Milan. Lastly,
the Company encourages employee involvement in social initiatives
and supports them in connection with humanitarian causes, as was
the case for the “Insieme
per Haiti” project.
