Consistently with the objective of granting the reliability of
the italian natural gas system, the Company has increased its
investments in natural gas storage
Specifically, the Collalto field's capacity has been increased from 400 MSm3 of working gas to more than 800 MSm3, raising the daily supply peak from 3.5 MSm3 to 9 MSm3/day.
Currently the Cellino field has a capacity of 120 MSm3 with a a daily supply peak of 1 MSm3/day.
The last field that has recently started operation is San Potito Cotignola, with a capacity of 900 MSm3 and a peak of 7.5 MSm3/day.
Thanks to this new facility, Edison has tripled its storage capacity. The expansion of its storage operations, that today represents 3% of the national capacity, will enable Edison to continue generating a portion of EBITDA from regulated activities, thereby offsetting the gradual reduction of profits from electric production under CIP6 contracts.
The storage activity will become more relevant for Edison in
future years: other projects are currently under feasability
