Vega A Platform Thermoelectric power plant
Edison, opens its power plants and oil platforms to everyone thanks to the new 360-degree videos with a really immersive experience (Youtube and Facebook).
For the first time ever, it is possible to explore the sea depths under an offshore oil platform, the Vega A, located 12 miles south from the coast of Sicily (Italy) and take a tour on the tunnels that connect the dams to the engine room in an hydroelectric plant.
The first video is shot on a hydroelectric plant (Venina in Italy) starting from the 60 meters high dam, with its stunning landscapes down to the historical engine room of the Esterle hydroelectric plant, that has produced clean energy since 1898.
The second video is set on Vega A, the biggest offshore oil platform in the Mediterranean sea, located south from Sicily, Italy. In the video you can experience the helicopter flight over the platform and dive under the sea to discover a rich biodiversity.
The 360 videos are available on all mobile devices by using the Youtube of Facebook app. Thanks to the sensors in the devices, the video will follow the movements of the users and you will be able to change the point of view by moving your phone or tablet. The 360 experience is also available on desktop PC and laptops but only through Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browsers.
