Energy efficiency and sustainable development
In 2009, Edison established the new Energy Efficiency and
Sustainable Development Business Unit with the aim of helping
customers rationalize the use of energy resources by optimizing
energy utilization processes, producing energy with sources that
have a low environmental impact and, finally, fully offsetting the
residual carbon footprint.
Edison does not supply specific products or technologies. Instead, it helps businesses identify the true efficiency improvement potential of their facilities and develop the best course of action in terms of financial and environmental returns.
Edison can deploy its own financial resources to support an investment in energy efficiency, benefiting not only its customer but the entire community, with an obvious positive impact in terms of emissions reduction (Kyoto Protocol).
Currently, Edison provides these services primarily to medium and large Italian companies, but its aim is to offer them also to government entities and all other customers, including residential users.
Among Edison’s many energy efficiency initiatives currently under way, the project with Mapei, an Italian company in products for the building industry, is particularly noteworthy.
