In the hydrocarbon area, Edison was the first company in Italy to develop an offshore natural gas regasification project, providing Italy with access to an infrastructure of strategic importance for the reliability and diversification of natural gas supply sources. The Rovigo offshore regasification terminal, operational in 2009, will make it possible to import 8 billion cubic meters of natural gas a year from Qatar.
