“To contribute to the success of our business by hiring people with outstanding professional skills and growth potential, promoting their development by offering training and challenging career tracks, and protecting and enhancing the key competencies needed to achieve the Company’s objectives.”
The commitment and professionalism of our human resources are of fundamental importance in enabling our Company to grow and achieve increasingly challenging goals. For this reason, Edison has always worked hard to develop the competencies and skills of each employee while pursuing a policy of equal opportunity and respecting and supporting each individual’s aspirations. This focus on human resources translates into a corporate culture that promotes team work, communication, a results-oriented approach and the delegation of responsibility as essential tools in enabling the Company to achieve outstanding results.
Training
Edison devotes significant attention to the professional development of its human resources.
Training is a fundamental component of this process. Consequently, Edison invests in providing
managerial, professional and technical training to all of its employees — young people,
professional staff, managers and executives. Among the many programs offered by the Group, the “
Young Employee Development” training track is especially noteworthy. The purpose of this three-year
program, which is available to recent graduates and young graduates, is to give the participants
exposure to all of the basic management skills they will need in the future when they occupy
positions of responsibility within Edison.
Development
The purpose of professional and management development programs is to increase the value of
the Company’s human assets by creating internally competencies that are relevant to its businesses
and enhance the skills of its people. People become motivated and involved when the Company
addresses their needs and aspirations and offers them a professional environment that is rich with
opportunities. Development objectives should be pursued by developing and implementing a
merit-based system that uses a series of “levers” to “communicate” the factors that the
organization views as conducive to success. Individual professional development and the Company’s
compensation policy are closely linked to a performance evaluation system that, in addition to
measuring success trough the achievement of assigned objectives, is designed to promote an
organizational conduct that is consistent with the Company’s values and to help employees achieve
their potential. Edison is able to draw on a vast array of specialized competencies from its staff
functions to provide support to its line resources, and can offer growth opportunities in its
different business operations in the following areas of development:
Technology
The design and construction of new facilities and their efficient operation require
professionals with highly developed technical and management skills who can oversee the
technological development and productivity of the Company’s power generating installations and
contribute to the implementation of complex projects.
Sales and Marketing
The deregulation of the energy market poses a challenge and requires employees that can offer
an innovative approach to sales and are willing to take up the challenge of confronting a
constantly changing market and structure the product line and customer relations accordingly.
Administration, Finance and Control
The ongoing development of the Company’s business and the resulting need for new investments
and initiatives require the use of complex planning and control and financial analysis methods, as
well as the study and implementation of innovative techniques such as risk management.
Trading and Risk Management
Effective management of trading operations in the newly established Electric Power Exchange
and protection of the Company’s profit margins through the optimization of its portfolio of sources
and utilizations requires the input of skilled people with business-specific expertise.
Strategy and Business Development
In responding to a rapidly changing business environment, management relies on the support of
people that can focus on analyzing and developing growth opportunities for the Company.
