Exploration and production

In Italy, the Edison Group is involved in the exploration and production of natural gas and crude oil, 59 concessions and exploration permits in Italy and 23 concessions and exploration permits outside Italy. It also holds two licenses for natural gas storage. Outside Italy, Edison International is involved in exploration and production in Egypt and the British sector of the North Sea, and holds exploration permits in Iran, Croatia, Algeria, Egypte, Senegal, Qatar and Ivory Coast.

Edison owns oil and gas reserves both in Italy and abroad. In 2008, the Group produced 973 million cubic meters of natural gas.

Edison is also active in importing and distributing natural gas, which it purchases from foreign suppliers under both spot and long-term contracts. In Italy, the Edison Group sells natural gas to residential customers, industrial users, thermoelectric power plants and distributors, using both its own logistics infrastructure and third-party transmission agreements.
